• The Amazing Spider-Man - THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 🕸️

This piece was actually completed in 2022 and was due for release as an officially licensed print to coincide with Spider-Man's 60th anniversary.

Unfortunately, the gallery that was due to release it is no longer with us. The artwork itself is a re-imagining of John Byrne's cover artwork for the Marvel Index released in April 1985. I really wanted to put my own spin on the character and depiction of New York. Taking influence from a range of sources such as the 70's TV show and 70's cinema, Lee Bermejo, Steve Ditko and the Sam Raimi film. I wanted my take on the character to be low tech and home-made. No Stark-tech suits here. Visible seams with care taken to be mindful of the construction of the suit itself, I wanted to make something tangible and textured.

A lot of my work these days involves likeness or depicting existing imagery from various media. It was incredibly liberating sinking my teeth into a piece that felt wholly my own and without direct reference, beyond the composition from the original cover artwork. It's one of my favourite pieces that I've personally made.
