The Batman - Character portrait (2022)

One of my most anticipated movies of 2022. Batman has been my favourite character in pop culture since very early in childhood. This iteration of the character looks to be everything I've ever wanted from a Batman film.

In this anticipation, I wanted to illustrate some more fan art for the film. I wanted to paint a portrait evocative of the red lit, rain soaked mood of the film.

The Batman - Character portrait - Alternate version

The process of the painting (seen below in the timelapse video) meant that I painted the fully dry and regular version of the character, and then added rain and lighting effects on top of this. I enjoyed the clean version of the portrait and decided to save it separately as it's own variant version.

Initially started as a sketch made after seeing the film, I eventually decided to push it a bit further and add a title and billing block, making it into something of a mini poster.

The Batman - Illustration (2021)

Painted in anticipation for the movie, I used a set photo as reference and elaborated the illustration into something evocative of the tone of the film.
