After finishing my The Last of Us Part II fan art poster I felt compelled to make a follow up for the preceding game in the franchise. After much iteration i settled on a composition that focuses purely on Ellie and Joel. Initially the poster included many of the secondary characters and cast, but I decided it diluted what was essentially the core premise of the game - the growing father/daughter relationship between the two protagonists.
Around them I wanted to indicate towards the post apocalyptic world that the game takes place in, featuring iconic locations Bill's Town and Pittsburgh, where the game's story really begins to develop.
Also within the background I wanted to allude to the Fireflies, the revolutionary militia group from the game. In doing so, I sought to include their logo in a subtle way.

This poster was initially conceived as a follow up and companion to my The Last of Us Part II poster design from 2020. Over time however it evolved and became its own thing. That said, it still shares a lot of the DNA of the previous poster. I'm really pleased to see what I feel has been a positive development as an artist just between the two works.
